I was thrilled today to find that my Tom Ford Beauty preorder selections had arrived! I was so excited that I had to immediately post my initial thoughts. First up is the Eye Color Quad in Cognac Sable. I selected this quad mostly because of the lovely coppery orange shade with loads of sparkle. The other shades are neutrals, and while not as original, are entirely wearable.
The packaging while very chic is actually quite large and bulky. The Tom Ford logo is imprinted on the side in gold. The rest of the case is mirrored and dark brown and comes in a velvet pouch. It comes with 2 standard applicators. Starting from the left, there is a brown tinged gold with a satin finish, then a coppery orange with lots of gold glitter, a dark true brown with tiny shimmers, and a lighter rust brown with a satin finish. On first swipe, the texture is a bit powdery, and the pigmentation is fair. It did take some building up of the color to achieve a nice dark swatch.
My first impression is good, but not great. I think I was expecting a little more. I love the sparkly orange shade, I think it is stunning and I don't own anything like it. However, in terms of the texture and pigmentation, I prefer the quality of Le Metier de Beaute. Perhaps I need to play around a bit more and see how the shadows wear. Tom Ford Beauty is available now at Bergdorf Goodman. The Eye Color Quads retail for $75.00 for 0.35 oz/10 g of product.
Have you tried anything from Tom Ford Beauty? What are your thoughts?
haven't tried and will not buy... I haven't heard favorable things for the amount they charge. I'll pay for LMdB because the quality and service is phenomenal.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I'm going to wait for a full review before I even consider ordering!
ReplyDeleteBlushing Noir- I haven't read that many reviews, I'm curious as to what others think. I am not sure it is worth the price.
ReplyDeleteLexi- Definitely see it in person first if you can!
It's definitely out of my price range, and the quads don't seem to have the same quality as his lipsticks. Thanks for swatching!
ReplyDeleteLarie- I would agree, I absolutely love the lipsticks. The quad is nice, but hard to justify the cost.
ReplyDeleteI think I will stick to the lipsticks.. The shadows look so pretty in the pan, but I'm so disappointed with the swatches and reviews I've seen so far. Thank goodness! Saves me a pretty penny.
ReplyDeleteReene- The shadows look gorgeous! I do love the coppery orange shade with the glitter. I wore it tonight and it looked nice with no fall out. But I had to pack on the color to get nice pigmentation. And way too expensive for just 1 shadow!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the review! This one was actually on my WL as well but the swatches really don't look all that promising. I think I'm better off with trying one of his lipsticks then. x
ReplyDeleteKlara- Definitely go for the lipsticks. They are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLook gorgeous in the pan! But for the price the pigmentation should be much better.
ReplyDeleteSonia- I've been wearing this quad daily since I received it to test out the shadows more. They do look beautiful on even though you have to pack on the color a bit. Its really growing on me.
