My Kaleidoscope Companion: The Le Metier de Beaute Retractable Lip Brush

The Le Metier de Beaute Retractable Lip Brush is the perfect companion to the Lip Kaleidoscopes offered by the brand.  The brush is small and sleek, and comes in a velvet pouch.  It is made of 100% natural hair.  The shape is perfect for the precise application of lipstick and gloss.

I decided to pick up this brush as a companion to my lip kaleidoscope.  I love the colors in my kaleidoscope in Empress, but I did not want to carry around the bulky kit in my purse when out for the evening! I picked up a tip from Le Metier Artist Dustin, who introduced me to the wonders of the retractable lip brush which was more than an ordinary lip brush!  Just scoop a bit of product on to the brush and store it in the retractable case for touch ups throughout the night. I tried this technique a few times and it works brilliantly!  I just pick up a bit of the gloss on to one side of the brush, and shut the cap.  Then I store the brush in the velvet pouch and keep this in my bag to use all night.  Since then, I have been getting a lot of mileage out of my lip kaleidoscope!

The Le Metier de Beaute Retractable Lip Brush retails for $40.00 and is available where Le Metier products are sold.

Le Metier de Beaute True Color Eye Shadow in Chameleon

Le Metier de Beaute's True Color Eye Shadows are undoubtedly my favorite shadows because of their rich, buttery consistency with superb color and pigmentation.  I decided I wanted to expand my collection with a few shades from the single shadow range.  I decided to start with Chameleon, a unique khaki gold with a satin sheen.  This shade has long been a favorite of bloggers and fans of the line, and I can see why! The color lends gold in some lights and more green in others.  It is universally flattering as well!

Le Metier de Beaute's single shadows retail for $30.00, for 0.13 oz, or 3.8 gm of product.  If you try anything from the line, try the shadows first! They are a must! I'm already thinking about some other colors I have to get.  Corinthian, of course...Any other suggestions?

Another EOTD By Dustin of Le Metier de Beaute

Stopping by the Le Metier counter at Bergdorf's and visiting my favorite makeup artist Dustin Lujan is becoming one of my favorite Saturday activities!  We decided to try a different type of look today!

First Dustin applied the Dualistic Eye Pencil in Champagne all over the lid as a base.  Next, using the signature couches de couleurs technique, he layered the True Color Eyeshadows in Nutmeg, Firelily, and Chameleon all over the lid using the Eyeshadow Brush.  He then added the True Color Eyeshadow in Jade along the lash line, extending the color out to create a winged shape, using the Flat Liner Brush.  Using the same brush, he mixed all four shadows and applied the color along the lower lash line, and used Nutmeg in the inner corner.  To blend the edges and highlight, he used the Eye Brightening and Setting Powder in Revive along the brow bone.  He lined the top lash line with the Precision Liquid Liner in Aqua for a softer look, and the waterline with the Dualistic Eye Pencil in Sequoia. Finally, he coated my lashes with the Anamorphic Lash Mascara in Aubergine.

This is a different look than I normally go for! But I like the pop of color! What do you think?

See What's Inside Birchbox this Month!

This month Birchbox is celebrating you.  The team at Birchbox has decided to say thank you to its members by filling this month's box with some of their favorite products!  These products are meant to fill all sides of the beauty spectrum.

Jurlique Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer: I am most excited by this product this month!  I use loads of hand sanitizer at my job so this will definitely come in handy and smells lovely.  It has a subtle minty smell that is refreshing and not overpowering.

Liv Grn Natural Eau de Parfum: Scent samples are always nice for traveling.  This one is laced with orange and neroli and made from sustainable ingredients.

Jouer Lip Enhancer: A hydrating, conditioning and plumping lip enhancer.  I'll definitely use this, and nice for keeping in my bag.  But quite tiny!

Incoco nail polish applique: I never caught on to the nail applique trend.  I find polish easier to apply.  Plus leopard print nails aren't work friendly!

Friendship bracelet: The monthly treat.

What did you think of this month's box?  Did you get anything different?

EOTD by Dustin Lujan with Le Metier Eye Kaleidoscope in Silk Road

This past weekend I took my sister to Bergdorf's to meet the wonderful Dustin at Le Metier de Beaute and have a little fun!  He created a beautiful look for her with the new for fall Silk Road Kaleidoscope, using the signature "couches de couleur" technique of layering colors. My sister and Dustin were kind enough to let me take a few pictures to let me show this beautiful look!

Dustin first prepped under the eye with the new Revive Eye Concentrate and concealed with the Classic Flawless Finish Concealer.  Next, he applied the Dualistic Eye Pencil in Sequoia all over the lid and blended out to create a base for the shadows.  Using the Eye Shadow Brush, he applied Tapestry all over the lid to the crease, followed by Damask, and Ikat.  He then applied Brocade to the lash line.  He then applied Damask to the inner corner, and mixed all four shades and used the Flat Liner Brush to apply the color to the lower lash line. The Eye Brightening and Setting Powder in Revive was used along the brow bone to highlight and blend out the edges. The Precision Liquid Liner in Noir was used to line the upper lash line.  The Dualistic Eye Pencil in Sequoia was used in the waterline. Finally, the lashes were coated with Anamorphic Lash Mascara in Midnight Blue.

The quality of Le Metier's shadows is so sublime that a look like this is so effortless! The shadows all layer beautifully and blend with ease.  Thanks Dustin for the tutorial and another fun Saturday afternoon at Bergdorf's!

Makeup Mavens Weekly Wrap Up!

Part of the inspiration behind Oscar de la Renta's collaboration with Le Metier de Beaute

Searching for a tinted moisturizer? Check out Lipstick Luvvies review on Liz Earle Sheer Skin tint and see how it compares to Laura Merciers. Liz Earle's might be an even better option for you.

Now that the summer is coming to a close, Lovesong for My Lipgloss has been inspired to create the perfect eye for fall and it's something definitely helpful for autumn makeup looks.

Mookie On The Bench's highlight of the week is Elie Saab's "Le Parfum". The orange blossom and jasmine are the primary notes and even though you may not like florals, don't totally dislike it, because it's soft and seamless effect on the skin.

Check out Product Doctor's blog on meeting Oscar de la Renta for Fashion and her overall thoughts on the Face of Fashion Kaleidoscope. You get to see her lovely face with Oscar de la Renta in an epic photo :)

Raspberry Rouge discusses Cliniques Black Honey Lipgloss/Lipstick Duo. 10 years ago she thought it was a bit too dark for her liking, go check to see how she feels about it now.

Always hunting for an awesome blush brush? Stop on over to The Black Panties blog to see the differences are between Shu Uemura's #17 and #14 blush brushes, so you can see which one would be a perfect fit for you :)

I met Oscar at Fashion's Night Out! Le Metier de Beaute and Oscar de La Renta!

I went to Bergdorf's today for Fashion's Night Out and met Oscar de la Renta! He was there to promote his collaboration with Le Metier de Beaute, the Oscar de La Renta Kaleidoscope Ready To Wear.  The Kaleidoscope features a Lip Creme in a gorgeous true red, a radiance powder rouge highlighter in a champagne color, and 2 true color eye shadows: a teal green and a neutral champagne.

The kit itself is beautifully packaged in a box which I was lucjy to have signed by Mr. De La Renta himself!  Inside features a booklet with a note by the designer:

"Color has always been an extremely important part of who I am as a designer.  It is wonderful to work with cosmetics because they are such as important part of a woman's sense of femininity.  The colors in my palette are meant to compliment a woman, and enhance her natural beauty.  I have chosen shades that are indispensible, like a good red lip, and a neutral highlighter for the cheekbones."

The silver pen is the autograph I received!

The Kaleidoscope comes with a velvet pouch

Red Lip Creme Lip Gloss

Neutral Champagne highlighter

Teal green eye shadow
Yellow gold eye shadow

Me with Oscar de la Renta!
What a fun and amazing night at the Beauty Level at Bergdorf's!  It was so much fun to be part of the action and have a chance to meet Oscar de la Renta in person and have him sign my kit!  It is much to precious to me at the moment (which I'm sure you can understand) that I couldn't bear to swatch it just yet!  My first thoughts are that the red lip creme is very similar to   Silk Road in the Empress Lip Kaleidoscope from the Fall Collection.  I really like that this kit features different types of products for lips, face and eyes though.  I like the idea of including a neutral highlighter.  The 2 shadows are nice choices as well, as the colors are truly beautiful.  The teal green is a jewel tone and looks as if it will compliment a variety of skin tones and pairs nicely with the more neutral shade.  In fact, the green is so nice, this may be the reason why I have to use this kaleidoscope immediately.  In that case, swatches to follow.  Overall, I am quite pleased!

Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Color in Coco Ravish

I finally got a look at the new shades released by Tom Ford for his Private Blend Lip Color Collection.  From the range of nudes and pinks, I selected Coco Ravish, the shade Lara Stone is wearing in the nude look campaign photo.

Coco Ravish is a warm nude shade with a rosy brown undertone.  It is one of the darkest of the nude shades according to the color chart.  It may look slightly different depending on your skin tone and natural lip pigmentation.

The formula is the same as the original lipstick.  Intensely rich, creamy and pigmented.  The new black lacquer case is so sleek and sophisticated, and sexy to boot!

The Tom Ford Beauty Line introduced 13 new shades in his Private Blend Lip Color Collection and kept 5 shades from the original launch.  I had to restrain myself at just one for now, but I had my eye on a few of the shades!  Each retails for $48.00, but it is well worth it!

Sorry for the bad lighting in these pics, I was so excited to show you guys this I had to do a quick post as soon as I got home!  I will post more pics in better lighting soon.

UPDATE: Here is a pic of the color applied.  The perfect my lips but better look!

The Makeup Mavens Weekly Wrap Up

Obsessed with this look at the moment. Want everything. Watch it recreated by A Model Recommends.

The Makeup Mavens present makeup you may have missed. This week there's an array of products from Chantecaille, LMDB, La Roche Posay, Armani and Chanel. We've got posts on pretty palettes and blush, and one Maven shares a review on the brush that can do it all.

This week Lipstick Luvvies introduced us to the new palette from luxury brand, Chantecaille. Head on over to read her brilliant review and take a peek at swatches of the gorgeous blush and shadow shades.

Finding suitable products for sensitive skins can be a tricky task, but Klara of Mookie on the Bench has discovered an excellent moisturiser from La Roche Posay. If you're looking for a soothing product to calm irritation and redness, check out her review of Toleriane Ultra.

In an effort to simplify her make up routine, Product Doctor went on a search for a multi purpose brush, and found Le Metier de Beaute's kabuki. Check out her great review and comparison to MAC's 182.

Raspberry Rouge finally gave in to Chanel's Fall nail colors and shared swatches of Graphite. Hop on over and take a look at the beautiful, shimmery shade.

After searching high and low for the perfect nude blush, The Black Panties stumbled upon Armani's Beige Violet. Check out her review and swatches of the pretty, natural shade.

Le Metier de Beaute Kaleidoscope Eye Kit in Silk Road

I finally got my hands on the Le Metier de Beaute Kaleidoscope Eye Kit in Silk Road! This collection is a gorgeous mix of warm and cool jewel toned hues.  I absolutely love this mixture of colors, as I adore rich plummy shades!

Tapestry:  A cool purple shade. With flash you can see the bits of golden sparkle. This has the most sheer finish but still retains a high level of pigmentation.

Damask:  A warm gold with a rich, satin finish.  My favorite of the kit, but I am a sucker for a gold shadow!

Ikat: A hot plum with a silk-matte texture.  With flash in the bottom picture, you can see that there is no gold sparkle in this shade.

Brocade is a rich chocolate brown with lots of copper reflects.  Perfect for lining the lash line.

Here are swatches in daylight and with flash.

I absolutely love this kit!  Stay tuned for a look featuring this eye kit and using the Le Metier signature couches de couleur layering technique. The Le Metier Kaleidoscopes retail for $95.00.
